Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were both snapped by trusty #setlock fans wearing the same period costume as in the preview image released by the BBC in November (see above).
Underneath that handsome top hat, Cumberbatch is sporting a shiny slicked-back hair do that, as does his costume, bears a strong resemblance to that worn by Jeremy Brett in the 80s-90s Granada Television Holmes series. Martin Freeman was also photographed in his David Burke-as-Watson-style brown suit and ‘tache (which, seeing how much the actor reputedly didn’t enjoy wearing his lip warmer in The Empty Hearse, must be going down a treat).

As noted above, we can expect a male mime artist to appear in the episode, as well as other "physical theatre" specialists. Could part of the Special take place in a circus or perhaps, Covent Garden?
It appears that Misfits' Natasha O'Keeffe will be appearing in the Special, thanks to this image snapped of her in what looks like a floral bridal headdress on the Bristol set.
A read-through for the Special took place in central London on Tuesday the 25th of November, before filming began this January. So far, the confirmed cast includes leads Cumberbatch and Freeman and regulars Amanda Abbington as Mary Watson (Morstan - well, nee something undisclosed beginning with an A but you know what we mean), Louise Brealey as Molly Hooper and Jonathan Aris as Anderson. We can expect more of the regulars to turn up as filming progresses, including the likes of Una Stubbs and Rupert Graves.
Lately, we've learnt that Blackadder alumnus Tim McInnerny (he most famously played Lord Percy Percy and Captain Darling in the BBC comedy) will be appearing as Sir Edwin, a name shared with Simon Kunz' character from His Last Vow. Is that just a coincidence? It would seem unlikely.
We learnt in the same news story that Stephanie Hyam will appear as a new character called Jane, and that David Nellist will return as Mike Stamford (the mutual friend who brought Sherlock and John together in episode 1).

The script has been co-written by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, with Douglas Mackinnon (Doctor Who, Line Of Duty, Jekyll) directing the episode. Production Designer Arwel Jones is back of course, while Suzie Lavelle (Doctor Who, Ripper Street) joins the team as the Director Of Photography.
What we don’t know
At present, we don’t yet have a title, synopsis, list of characters and cast, air date, or an explanation of why Cumberbatch and Freeman appear in Victorian dress. Despite the episode being repeatedly referred to as a Christmas Special, we’re yet to even have confirmation that Christmas 2015 is the planned air date. (If it is a Christmas story, the obvious choice would be The Adventure Of The Blue Carbuncle, of course).
In fact, Mark Gatiss told us in September, “It’s not a Christmas special. It’s a special, but we honestly have no idea when it might be on. The Palm Springs Historical Society invites you to join in celebrating vintage hotels, restaurants, and nightclubs at their 60th annual picnic. The Picnic
Under the Palms has become a place for Palm Springs residents and visitors old and new to celebrate, honor, and share the unique history of our city. This
beloved tradition is a tribute to Palm Springs’ past and everyone interested in attending is welcome.
The event began in 1955 when the Palm Springs Historical Society, Palm Springs City Council, and Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce organized an event to
celebrate the pioneers of Palm Springs. Dubbed “Founder's Day,” the first annual picnic was held at Tamarisk Park (now Ruth Hardy Park) the Sunday before
Thanksgiving. Four hundred attendees included seventy pioneers were asked to dress the way they did when they arrived in Palm Springs. Subsequently, guests
arrived in turn of the century attire, 1920s movie star garb, elaborate western regalia, and most memorably, full grown adults arrived dressed as children,
some wearing only diapers and bonnets.
In those days, the event was truly a picnic and attendees were asked to bring their own lunch. This continued for many years, even after the event moved from
Tamarisk Park to Moorten Botanical Garden and onto the then Society President's (Elizabeth Coffman Kieley) own patio garden at Smoke Tree Ranch.
“It’s always a nice ‘down-home’ event, reminiscent of when Palm Springs was a sleepy little village,” said Historical Society Board President Kieley in
1985. It wasn’t until 2004 that the picnic moved to the exclusive and historic O’Donnell Golf Club and became a fully-catered event.

Over the years, the Historical Society has honored many local groups at the annual picnic including the Desert Riders, Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla
Indians, Palm Springs Teachers, Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, and Palm Springs Life Magazine. This year, Chairman of the Historical Society’s Board of
Directors, Greg Hough, will emcee and speak with three legendary locals, Paul D’Amico, Mel Haber, and Burt Spivack about their favorite remembrances of Palm
Springs celebrities, hot spots, and their very own establishments.
D’Amico was the owner and operator of Paul D’Amico’s Steakhouse which opened in 1970. The successful restaurateur hosted not only the local politicians,
business owners and developers but famous celebrities as well as national political heavyweights. Evening entertainment was provided by many of the top
entertainers of the era and it was not uncommon for celebrity dinner guests to give impromptu performances.
Haber has been the owner and proprietor of the Ingleside Inn and Melvyn's Restaurant in Palm Springs, California since 1975. While visiting a friend in Palm
Springs, Haber stumbled upon the Ingleside Inn in 1975. The property, located at 200 Ramon Road, was in a state of disrepair thanks to an absentee owner.
Haber shut down the inn that summer and spent $500,000 in restoration costs, including Melvyn's restaurant. The inn re-opened on September 15, 1975 and was
an immediate success.

Over the years, the inn has hosted U.S. presidents, royalty, aristocrats, captains of industry, and celebrities visiting Palm Springs. They include Frank
Sinatra, Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Marlon Brando, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, Sylvester Stallone, Liza Minnelli, Liberace, Jerry Lewis, Barry
Manilow, Kurt Russell, Goldie Hawn, Rita Hayworth, Pat Boone, Debbie Reynolds, Larry King, John Travolta, Sidney Sheldon, David Hasselhoff, President Gerald
Ford, George Hamilton, and celebrity travel columnists Donald Pile and Ray Williams.
Haber not only has been a successful with both the Ingleside Inn and Melvyn’s Restaurant but he has written two books, "Bedtime Stories of the Ingleside

Spivack ran the Spa Hotel from its opening in 1963 through 1985. He was hired as comptroller of Palm Springs Spa, Inc. in 1962, ascending to president and
general partner in 1966. Spivack was known for his personal touch when it came to the guests who stayed at the Spa Hotel. He became close friends with many
of the guests who returned year after year to enjoy the sun and the hot mineral baths at the Spa Bathhouse.

The 2016 Society Calendar full of photographs of 1950s and ‘60s hotels, restaurants, and nightclubs will be premiered and for sale. One of the highlights of
the afternoon is the annual raffle which will boast terrific prizes donated by local businesses.

Stephen Collins’ talent agency has confirmed
Stephen Collins’ talent agency has confirmed that they will no longer be working with the 7th Heaven star following the news that the actor is currently under investigation for child molestation. Agency for the Performing Arts confirmed to Entertainment Weekly, that they would no longer be representing the star after an audiotape, which allegedly shows Collins admitting to having sexual encounters with minors, surfaced online this week. The agency has not made any further comment.
Since the news broke on Wednesday, Collins has lost his small role in the upcoming sequel to Seth McFarlane’s Ted as well as being dropped from an appearance in the hit series Scandal where he was set to play a TV reporter. Two networks have also confirmed that they will no longer be showing re runs of .

In the tape, Collins is supposedly heard admitting to molesting on underage girl and exposing himself to two others between the ages of 10 and 13 during a therapy session with his wife Faye Grant. Dracula Untold is Universal and Legendary’s retelling of the Dracula story except this movie is not based on Bram Stoker’s book of the same name. It instead focuses on the Transylvanian prince Vlad the Impaler (Luke Evans). He is destined to protect his family and kingdom from the invading Turks, but to do this he must find a dark source of power that eventually turns him into Count Dracula.

I liked the remake of The Mummy a lot and even enjoyed the second one, despite it not being very good. I never saw the 2010 remake of The Wolfman and Van Helsing was a mediocre movie with a good concept hidden somewhere. This new Dracula movie feels the same way, a good idea that’s buried in a very mediocre movie. A lot of the dialogue feels more like exposition rather than building up a lore around this new version of Dracula. The characters are also very boring and there’s really no reason to care for them. Luke Evans does do a decent job as Vlad, but all of the other actors are pretty bad. Dominic Cooper plays the film’s main villain and it seemed like he had a difficult time keeping his Turkish accent. The action scenes are also messy. Sometimes the action is cool, but there are other times where it’s poorly filmed and edited. A key example is when some of the action is shown through the reflection of a sword. It’s a poor attempt to seem stylistic, and it’s almost impossible to make out what is going on in that reflection. However there are other times when the action is pretty cool, even if it seems like the writers make up Dracula’s powers in the process. I refer to the scene where he creates a flock of bats to attack an army as Bat Bending.
